About the event

Nestled safely on the edge of the spellbinding rugged cliffs of the Causeway Coast sits the magnificent 18th Century National Trust, Mussenden Temple. This iconic and incredible building offers an authentic Northern Irish Dining experience. There is nothing more authentically Northern Irish, than dining inside Northern Irelands most iconic building.

The Experience

As you arrive to the entrance of Mussenden Temple and Downhill Demesne, you stop for a moment, taking in the stunning landscape, rugged cliffs and just to the right, a glimpse of the sparkling sea. Time is already slipping away in the sights and sounds of this area or Outstanding Natural Beauty.

As you make your way through Lions Gate, you see Downhill Castle, just above your designated parking area in the carpark, there is nowhere as spectacular as this stunning location. As you make your way through the estate by our VIP Chauffeur car, or maybe you are walking under the stars or guided by the evening sun, there is no weather or way that can take away from this amazing short journey to Mussenden Temple, even a moody sky at Mussenden is breath-taking. The amazing sights, sounds and the taste of the sea air on your lips, the world stops for a moment in the magic of this mesmerising landscape.

Arriving at the steps of Mussenden Temple, you feel that you are experiencing solitude at this magnificent monument, a tailored made experience, going behind the doors of the temple, only the few experiences. As the temple doors open to the sound of the sea below, you are warmly welcomed by Claire from Mussenden Sea Salt. A local food producer, with a deep connection to this landmark and the landscape. As we sip from crystal glasses and dine from compostable plates, we hear the fascinating story of how this temple was built by Ian from the National Trust.

Once inside, you really take a step back in time, as this iconic and incredible building is unspoilt by modern features. One of the reasons why we don't post a lot of photos of our experiences, is that there is nothing more magical than stepping inside this stunning location. It takes your breath away, and what makes these dining experiences a little more special is that with each ticket sold, a percentage of your ticket is helping to preserve this iconic landmark.

Our chef for Friday 23rd of August, is the fabulous Alison Williamson

The menu will be a taster menu a celebration of all things local. Our entertainment for the evening will be the fabulous Natalia & Ciara

Event Guidelines

- Please avoid high spikey heels, flats are perfect to walk to the temple, please wear relatively warm clothing. As this is an 17th century building untouched by modern features temperatures can drop. We would advise to layer. Layer doesn’t have to mean casual.

- Our menu is prearranged and cannot be altered, the dishes may contain allergies, please contact us before booking. We also cannot guarantee a Nut free environment.

- Toilets are available and whilst they are at the entrance to lions gate, we have provided transport by car to the toilets if you require the toilet midway through your evening.

-Due to potential staining of the stunning flooring, our menu has been fixed and there will be no red wine served, don’t worry though, we are pleased to announce  we will have another appearance by the new Giants Gin providing a range of cocktails.

-We have COVID-19 safety procedures in place and have good to go standard. The Northern Ireland COVID-19 restrictions are changing, and we will update all guests on the changes as they happen. If regulations changes due to COVID-19 we will move your reservation to another date.
